Semrush pricing and break-even

Is Semrush worth it for your business?

Start with your margin and measured conversion rate. The calculator returns the additional qualified visits and conversions required to recover the selected Semrush plan and production cost.

Semrush pricing used by this calculator

The selector uses public annual-plan monthly equivalents checked on September 2, 2026. It is designed to answer a buying question, not to reproduce every feature or add-on.

Public optionModeled monthly costUse it in the calculator when…
Content Toolkit$60You are evaluating content planning and production rather than a full SEO research stack.
AI Visibility$99You need brand and prompt monitoring in AI search for one domain.
SEO$117.33You need the entry SEO and AI-search plan and accept annual billing. The public month-to-month price is $139.
Semrush One Starter$165.17You need combined SEO and AI visibility and accept annual billing. The public month-to-month price is $199.

When Semrush is financially worth it

It clears the narrow financial test only when the gross profit from measured incremental conversions exceeds the subscription, extra production cost, and setup labor. If the result needs a traffic lift you cannot explain with a specific project, keyword set, or conversion path, the subscription is not justified by this model.

A business earning $100 gross profit per conversion at a measured 2% qualified-visit conversion rate needs about 59 additional qualified visits per month to cover the $117.33 annual-equivalent SEO plan before setup or content cost. That arithmetic does not mean Semrush will create those visits.

When to stay on free tools

Stay with free tools and Search Console when you have no conversion baseline, no offer with positive gross profit, no capacity to act on findings, or no way to distinguish new organic results from traffic you already had. Paying for data before defining the decision it changes creates software cost, not ROI.

Break-even traffic is not a traffic forecast

The result answers a narrower question: given your conversion rate and gross profit, how many additional qualified visits would cover the recurring software and production cost? It cannot determine whether the tool will create that lift.

Use incremental, qualified traffic

Do not count traffic you already receive or visitors with no path to a profitable conversion. Compare a measured baseline with a controlled period, and separate branded, informational, and commercial traffic.

Questions to answer before subscribing

  • Which recurring decision will the tool improve?
  • What measured conversion and gross-profit baseline will you use?
  • Who will act on audits, keywords, or visibility data each week?
  • What result and date will trigger cancellation?

Important exclusions

Tax, extra users, domains, prompts, reports, add-ons, overages, discounts, agency fees, content production beyond the entered amount, attribution lag, refunds, and assisted conversions are excluded.
